Dusty Goat Homestead

A NW Florida Homestead where we are learning how to grow and raise our own food. We have goats, chickens, ducks, quail, and rabbits. We have dreamed of being more self sufficient for about 15 years now. We purchased property about 3 years ago and are working towards building our forever home. We are using our current property to learn and sort of work out the kinks. This is a family project where we are learning many things. People often think of farms/homesteads as dirty work, outside in the heat, cold, rain or snow, however there is a great deal more to it. We are leaning how to garden and animal husbandry. Most importantly, we are learning to be self sufficient. We are teaching our kids marketing, finances, carpentry, problem solving, collaborating, and to use their imagination. We sell some of the stuff we grow and raise through the work we do here, so there is a business side with homesteading.
