He is the general of the Hypnobrai tribe because he defeated the previous general when he was just a warrior. The Snake King, Pythor promised Skales that he will be his second-in-command if he follows what he does. He is seen with Pythor many times after that. When he sees Slithraa fall under Lloyd's control, Skales sees an opportunity to fulfill his own ambitions for control. Skales, still second-in-command to Lord Garmadon, schemes to strike at the Ninja from within and patiently waits for events to unfold in his favor.
